It’s disheartening to see Nigeria, one of the top oil-producing nations, struggling with fuel scarcity and relying heavily on imports for refined oil. Nigerians face high costs for fuel, cooking gas, diesel, and kerosene, despite the country’s abundant natural and human resources. The disconnect between Nigeria’s oil production and citizens’ access to affordable fuel is evident. Instead of rejoicing, Nigerians are groaning under the weight of this situation.

According to the Bible, when the righteous lead, the people rejoice. But are Nigerians rejoicing or groaning under the current leadership? The essence of government is to ensure basic security, public order, and the general welfare of its people. Governance should prioritize the people above all else. Any government failing to do so has missed the mark. A government that pushes its citizens into desperate situations is ineffective.
